When we ask for a photograph
Before you can send money with us, Australian law requires us to be satisfied that you are who you say you are. In some cases, as part of that, we ask you for a photograph of your face. Whether we ask depends on the identity document you hold and on our assessment of the risk, so we may ask you and not another customer.
What we do with it
We check your photograph against the photograph in your identity document. That check may be carried out by a member of our staff, by an automated system, or by both. If the two do not match, we do not proceed and we do not accept any transaction from you.
Who may see it
Our own staff, the staff of Fox Reports Pty Ltd, which provides and supports the systems we use, and the providers of any automated checking service we use. We do not publish your photograph or give it to anyone for any purpose other than confirming your identity and meeting our obligations under Australian law.
Why we treat it differently
A photograph of your face is biometric information. Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) that makes it sensitive information, which may only be collected with your consent. That is why we set this out on its own page rather than leaving it among everything else.
How long we keep it
We keep your photograph together with the record of the check for seven years after our business relationship with you ends, and we delete it after that. The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) requires us to keep identity records for that period.
If you would rather not provide one
Tell us before you send it. Contact compliance@lexproexchange.com.au and we will tell you what other options are open for the document you hold. If no other method is available to us for that document, we will not be able to provide the service.
Your rights
Our Privacy Policy explains how to ask for access to the information we hold about you, how to ask us to correct it, and how to complain. This notice sits alongside that policy and does not replace it.
